When is check-in possible?
Your room is ready for occupancy from 14.00 on the day of arrival.
Should your arrival be delayed until after 6.00 pm, please let us know.
Early check-in is only possible on request and after reconfirmation.
By when do I have to check out?
On the day of departure we ask you to check out by 11.00 am.
A late check-out is possible on request and after reconfirmation for an extra charge.
When is breakfast served?
Our active breakfast buffet is available from 08.00 am to 10.00 am.
An early bird breakfast can be prepared for you on request.
When does dinner take place as part of the pampering half board?
Dinner as part of the pampering half board is served in the restaurant between 6.00 pm and 8.00 pm.
Intolerances and special dietary requirements
If you have any special dietary requirements or intolerances, please inform us in writing when you check in online or in your reply to the booking confirmation.
Are dogs allowed in the hotel?
Pets are allowed on request, after written confirmation and for an additional charge.
Are there special prices for children?
We are happy to offer special discounts for children. Please contact our reception team for more information.
Where can I park?
There are many free car parking spaces available in front of our hotel. When booking a suite, an underground car park space is included in the price.
Where can I charge my electric car?
An e-charging station is available for you directly at the hotel.
What are the cancellation conditions for direct bookings?
- Up to 14 days before arrival: € 40,
- Less than 14 days before arrival: 90% of the total amount
We recommend that you take out travel insurance.

No - we don't have classic air conditioning. Thanks to the alpine altitude, it stays pleasantly fresh even in summer.
Is there allergy-friendly bed linen?
Yes - all our rooms are equipped with duvets and pillows for allergy sufferers.
Can I choose my favourite cushion?
Naturally! Our pillow menu offers you different variants - from soft to supportive. Just let us know and we'll bring your favourite pillow to your room.
Is there a kettle in the room?
We are happy to provide you with a kettle free of charge on request.
Is the tap water in Sonnenburg safe to drink?
Yes - the water in the Sonnenburg comes directly from the Walser mountains and is of the highest quality. You can drink it without hesitation - refreshing, pure and regional.
Is there free WLAN in the hotel?
Yes - free WiFi is available throughout the hotel. You will receive the password at check-in.

What are the opening hours for the Relax.spa and Rooftop Infinity Pool?
Winter: The saunas are open daily from 14:00 to 20:00, the infinity pool is open from 8:00 to 10:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00.
Summer: The saunas are open daily from 15:00 to 20:00, the infinity pool is open from 7:00 to 20:00.
Can the Relax.spa also be used on the day of arrival and departure?
Our Relax.Spa and the Rooftop Infinity Pool can only be used on the day of departure or arrival on request and after reconfirmation at an extra charge.
Is there an age limit at the Relax.spa?
Our Relax.spa is a place of peace and relaxation - therefore access is possible for young people aged 14 and over. Children are welcome in the pool area if they are accompanied by an adult.
Do I need a bathrobe and towels?
A bathing bag with a fluffy bathrobe and towels will be waiting for you in your room on arrival and will be at your disposal for the duration of your stay.
Can I book massages and treatments in advance?
Our spa therapists are in high demand - so it's best to secure your preferred appointment before you arrive. By phone or email.
Are there snacks or drinks in the spa?
In our relaxation area you will find fresh Walser spring water and selected teas as well as dried fruit and nuts.
Do I need to bring anything for yoga or courses?
We provide mats and equipment free of charge. Please enrol in good time - courses are subject to availability.

What is included in the stay?
When booking with half-board, a daily active breakfast buffet and a 4-course evening gourmet menu with salad and starter buffet are included in the room price.
For bookings without half-board, the active breakfast buffet is included.
Which products are used in the kitchen?
We cook with heart - and with ingredients from the region. Over 90 % come from producers within a maximum radius of 80 kilometres. Seasonal, fresh and carefully selected.
Is there a restaurant for à la carte guests?
Yes - our restaurant is also open for external guests: daily from 12.00 to 17.00 and from 18.00 to 20.00 (Wednesday closed). It's worth making a reservation!
Can I have lunch at the Sonnenburg?
Naturally! In our restaurant we serve you fine delicacies from 12.00 to 17.00 - ideal after hiking, biking or simply to enjoy.
Is there a rest day?
Yes - our restaurant is closed on Wednesdays. This day off is already taken into account in the pricing.

For the main course, you can choose from three alternatives every day:

Are there guided hikes directly from the hotel?
Yes, we offer guided hikes several times a week - ideal for discovering, taking a deep breath and marvelling.
Where can I get mountain railway tickets - and are they included?
From May to November, the Unlimited mountain railway ticket is included with us. This allows you to use all participating cable cars in Kleinwalsertal and Oberstdorf free of charge.
Can I borrow walking poles or a rucksack?
Yes - we are happy to provide you with both free of charge during your stay.
What about cycling or e-biking?
Wonderful bike trails start right on our doorstep. You can hire (e-)bikes for a fee, secure parking spaces and a bike.wash.station are of course available.
Any tips for family outings in the area?
From the summer toboggan run to the climbing garden - our reception team has lots of ideas for young and old explorers.

You can reach the Kanzelwand cable car in just a few minutes. Thanks to the free ski bus - with a stop directly at the hotel - getting to the skiing fun is very relaxed.
Can I store my ski equipment with you?
Yes - there is a lockable ski room in the hotel as well as ski depots directly at the Kanzelwand cable car.
Where can I hire skis or snowboards?
Our partner Sport Kessler offers everything from hire to ski service - centrally located in the village and with top advice.
Are there also winter hiking trails or cross-country ski runs?
Yes, fantastic winter hiking trails and the cross-country ski trail start right at the hotel. You can get suitable tips from us at reception.
Does a special experience take place in winter?
A highlight is our torchlight hike with mulled wine by the fire - magical, cosy and unforgettable.

How do I get to the Sonnenburg by car?
The Sonnenburg is easily accessible by car from Germany, Austria or Switzerland. From Oberstdorf, follow the Walserstrasse to Riezlern - our hotel is located in the quiet district of Außerschwende.
Is there a car park directly at the hotel?
Yes, there is a free outdoor car park in front of the hotel. On request, you can also reserve a parking space in the underground car park (included for suites).
Does the hotel have an e-charging station?
Yes - you will find a charging station for your e-car directly at the hotel.
What is the best way to travel by public transport?
Take the train to Oberstdorf - from there the Walserbus or a taxi will take you directly to the Sonnenburg. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel.
Is travelling in winter possible without any problems?
Yes - the roads are well cleared. Nevertheless, we recommend winter tyres and snow chains in heavy snow conditions for maximum safety.
